WSACCO DELGATION COMPLETES A ONE WEEK SACCA CONGRESS IN MOMBASA
The Chairman Board of Directors Wazalendo SACCO Maj Gen Sam Kavuma and its Chief Executive Officer Col Joseph Freddy Onata have successfully completed a one week Savings and Credit Co-operative Association(SACCA) congress which took place from the 17th -22nd of October 2021 in Kenya’s coastal county of Kwale- Mombasa.
SACCA Congress is Africa’s largest annual Co- operative event that brings together National Associations and individual SACCOs in Africa and allover the world to share experiences. The shared experiences enable SACCOs and Credit unions to build resilience in order to sustainably transform the livelihoods of their members economically and socially.
This year’s event was held under the theme; ” Resilience of Cooperative Business Model and in Integration and Sustainable Network Development”
The permanent Secretary in the Kenya ministry of cooperatives who officiated in the closing ceremony on behalf of the Minister applauded African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations (ACCOSCA) for the good job they are doing in the developing of resilient business model through leadership training and networking
The congress adressed topical issues facing SACCOs that included among others linking strategy to member value proposition, driving strategy through innovations for ensuring sustainable cooperative financial institutions, wealth creation at household level, and enhancing SACCO performance.
Some of the 2021 SACCA objectives included;
- Enhancing platforms for practioneers on financial cooperatives on current industrial trends, practical knowledge sharing and best practices during pandemic.
- Strengthening diversity equity and inclusive development in Africa through SACCO Business Model.
