Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (WSACCO) Risk Champions have been urged to put the knowledge that they got from the training into practice so that they become agents of change and help the society to minimize risk exposures arising from day to day activities and operations.
Risk Champions are persons selected from different departments by virtue of their expertise in a particular aspect of risk management but are not risk owners. They play Advisory, Coordination, troubleshooting roles among others.
The call was made by the Chief Executive Officer WSACCO Col Joseph Freddy Onata while closing a two days training of Risk Champions on Enterprise Risk Management and Business Continuity planning which was conducted at WSACCO Headquarter in Kiwatule.
The CEO thanked the trainers (Symore Solutions) for the knowledge imparted into the staff which he said will enable them appreciate and understand risk management in its broader perspective.
“I want to assure you trainees that the Board of Directors and Management have invested in you and expect nothing but excellence after this training. In WSACCO, we pay attention to training because of the value creation effect that comes with having personnel who know their operating environment and understand their responsibilities. It is the main reason why we are committed to having every staff to get proper understanding of our processes and the potential risks involved”. Said Onata.
Onata also encouraged the risk Champions to transfer the knowledge acquired to other staff so as to collectively create change required to enhance performance and to promote WSACCO brand.
Mr Ahimbisibwe Simon who spoke on behalf of the trainers, commended WSACCO for trusting Symore Solutions to train the staff. “Staff are most valuable assets of any institution that create value. I therefore thank WSACCO leadership for putting much effort in training the staff “. He said.
Ahimbisibwe noted that risk is part of every day business and can never be avoided but can only be mitigated or minimized by gaining understanding of the risk management through such trainings.
While speaking on behalf of the trainees, Lt Jonathan Kizito thanked WSACCO leadership for giving the staff the opportunity of enhancing their knowledge in line with Risk Management and Business Continuity Planning. He pledged that there will be full utilization of the knowledge acquired.
The training was coordinated by WSACCO’s Head of Risk and Compliance Maj Rtd Wilson Mutahi.
