Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (WSACCO) has given Mama kits worth 6,000,000 (Six Million Shillings) to mothers in the Kyankwanzi district.
The support was made on 7th March 2025 ahead of the International Women’s Day celebration held in Kyankwanzi district on 8th March 2025.
While handing over the donation on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of Wazalendo SACCO, Brig Gen Joseph Freddy Onata, the Head of Finance Lt Col Julius Katanaka said that the support is part of WSACCO’s Community engagement strategy that is catered for under the Corporate Social Responsibility function. He added that giving back to the community through UPDF is intended to strengthen the strategic partnership between Wazalendo, UPDF, and the community.
The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces Ag Director for Women Affairs Col Lydia Nandudu appreciated Wazalendo SACCO for positively responding to the call to support the women during women’s day celebrations. Nandudu noted that the mamakit shall promote hygiene and support mothers who can not afford birth kits. “These mama kits shall be handed over to health centers where they will be given to expectant mothers who are in need of support during delivery.” Col Nandudu stressed.
During the women’s day celebration, Wazalendo SACCO team led by the Manager Corporate Communications, Lt Col Akasius Mpabaisi carried out other activities that included among others; participation in the parade, offsite data capture and wazamobile registration and pin resets a as part of continuous member engagement.
