UPDF AND WAZALENDO SACCO MOURN BRIG SIMON OCAN’S MOTHER

The Commandant of UPDF’s National Defence College (NDC) Jinja, Maj Gen Francis Okello represented the UPDF fraternity at the send off Ceremony of the late ANGELA PAULINA mother to Brig Gen Simon Nicholas Ocan who is the UPDF’s Defence Attache (DA) to Burundi.

The send off Ceremony took place at Adoku village in Serere District on the 17th of Febuary 2023.

Gen Francis Okello appreciated Brig Gen Ocan for being a responsible son who has provided extra care to his mother for the good years she has been able to live despite his busy schedule and being away.
Okello said that living to an advanced age of 91 is a blessing from God that not many attain. He thanked Brig Gen Ocan for that care which he rendered to the late. He encouraged other members of the community to emulate Ocan in balancing both their employee roles and family responsibilities.
Brig Gen Simon Ocan appreciated the UPDF for the support given to him and for standing with him at the hardest moment when the mother passed on.

He also thanked Wazalendo SACCO and in particular the Board Chairman Maj Gen Sam Kavuma for the support he got while working at WSACCO in different capacities and the contribution they made towards the burial expenses.
He said that UPDF and WSACCO’ have been been able to stand with him both in good and hard moments.

Ocan also extended his appreciation to the church and the entire community of Serere for the comfort, spiritual and Financial support to the family

Gen Ocan worked as the NDC Secretary before his assignment as DA to Burundi.
He also worked with Wazalendo as; the Vice Chairman BoD, Chairman of the BOD Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and at the time of his appointment as DA Burundi, Brig Ocan was Chairman of WSACCO’s Supervisory Committee (SUPCO).

At the send off Gen Okello was accompanied by Brig Gen Stephen Oluka, Col Stephen Nsereko, Col Charles Aremu and other Senior Officers, Junior Officers and Militants.

Wazalendo SACCO team that was led by the Chief Executive Officer Col Joseph Freddy Onata included; Head of ICT, Maj Arthur Kwezi, the AG. Head of Risk and Compliance Major Tony Abicilama, the Mbale Branch Manager, Major Komakech and other WSACCO managers and staff.
The send off was also graced by the Commissioner Electoral Commission Mr Emorut Peter among other government officials.
