Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (WSACCO) hosted 400 Junior Non-Commissioned Officers (JNCOs) on a study tour at the SACCO headquarter in Kiwatule .The students are currently undergoing a four-month leadership course at Hima Training School in Kasese District.
The Head of Human Resource and Administration of WSACCO , Lt Col Wesley Aine who represented the Chief Executive Officer fulfilling its vision er Col Joseph Freddy Onata, emphasized the importance of WSACCO in Helping members manage their finances effectively.
During the session, he highlighted the SACCO’s commitment to fulfilling its vision by expanding membership, offering quality financial services and making a positive impact in the lives of its members both during and after their active service.
The Commandant of Hima Training School, Lt Col Frank Kaweru, expressed confidence that the JNCOs would return from the tour with enhanced skills in financial management and enterprise selection ,ultimately benefiting their teams. ” Iam confident this study tour will leave you with a greater understanding of effective loan use to improve your welfare and support Wazalendo growth” Said Lt Col Kaweru
Maj Julius Niragire , Head of Operations WSACCO ,showcased the WSACCO’s Impressive growth since its inception .He observed that as of October 31,2024,membership surpassed 112,106,with significant figures in share capital at 292.4Bn deposits at 514.3Bn, total assets at 1.12Tn and loan portifolio at 883.4Bn and cummulative disbursements since 2007 since the first loan was give stands at 2.9Tn. Niragire urged members to adopt a consistent saving culture and ensure responsible loan utilization to keep pace with the SACCO’s growth.
Additionally, Maj David Mbiire, the Head of Operations at Wazalendo Investments Limited (WIL), discussed the Wazalendo Investment opportunities available for members , including initiatives in real estate , food processing ,road unit , construction of low cost houses among other business ventures. He emphasized that profits from these ventures would benefit the members directly ,resulting into potential dividends and access to affordable housing.
Present at the event was, the Personnel Manager of WSACCO Maj Joseph Habak Mukasa and Maj Ali Muzoora who represented the Head of Finance , among other senior Managers at WSACCO.
