  • WSACCO EXTENDS CASH OPERATIONS TO SINGO BRANCH

    Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (WSACCO) has launched its 9th cash operating branch in Singo Nakaseke District.
     
    While officiating at the commissioning of the branch, the 1DIV Commander Brig Gen Joseph Semwanga who represented the Commander Land Forces (CLF) Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga encouraged the UPDF leadership to be exemplary by passing their salaries through WSACCO. He noted that by UPDF personnel processing their salaries through WSACCO, revenue generated by WSACCO shall increase and liquidity challenges addressed which will also increase the size of the dividend paid. 
     
    “On behalf of CLF and entire UPDF leadership, we pledge total support to ensure that this branch is nurtured well to meet members’ expectations.  Now that the convenient services are all over the country in addition to mobile banking, I am confident to mobilize those under my command and others to process their salaries through WSACCO. I also take this opportunity to thank WSACCO leadership for handling members savings well, being accountable and using the resources given to you by members to do such evident projects properly.” Noted Gen. Ssemwanga .
     
    The Chief Instructor Peace Support Operations Training School (PSOTS), Col Ssozi Ssesanga who represented the Commandant of the school, Brig Gen Max Gumisiriza, applauded the Board of Directors (BOD) and Management for answering the long outstanding question of long distances travelled by members to access their accounts which he said has been costly to to the members and a challenge to command and control at the training school.
     
    While speaking on behalf of the Chairman BOD Maj Gen Sam Kavuma, Lt Col Allan Kitanda who is the Vice Chairperson of the BOD, appreciated the leadership of PSOTS for always supporting WSACCO works. He appreciated the BOD, SUPCO and the committed team of management under the leadership of the CEO Col Joseph Freddy Onata whom he described as a game changer in the growth of WSACCO. “Without them we would not have achieved this, I encourage members to utilize the facility maximumly”. He said.
     
    The Chairman of the Supervisory Committee (SUPCO) Col Justus Rukundo appreciated team work between BOD and Management. He extended gratitude to the chief guest for making a first deposit in the branch as a sign of emphasis for continuous saving. He challenged Management to focus on service excellence and convenience.
     
    The CEO Col Joseph Freddy Onata said that the opening of more cash branches is intended to enhance service delivery. “Our cash operations are augmented by innovations like mobile banking, the basis on which WSACCO now has capacity to handle salary processing for its entire membership inconveniently.  
     
    “To be successful, we have had to get out of our comfort zones, overcome fears, learn new things, be able to tap into opportunities and grow. We learn every day in order to perfect our operations. Without challenging ourselves to get out of the ordinary and begin thinking big, we might have not registered such achievements.” He said. 
     
    According to the Director Operations Mr. William Atalyeba, WSACCO has a network of 19 branches out of which nine handle cash operations. He also said that out of the nine cash operating branches five branches namely; Entebbe, Kampala, Moroto, Gulu and Mbarara are located outside the barracks while four branches that include Singo, Bombo, Jinja and Mubende operate inside the barracks premises. “This year 2023, there is a plan to open two cash operating branches in Arua and Fort portal City. We are also going to test Agency Banking to allow members access all banks across the country “. Said Atalyeba.
     
    The LC5 Nakaseke District Mr Ignatius Koomu Kiwanuka said that it was an opportunity for him to see men and women in uniform gathered not to fight but for promoting development and welfare of their families.
     
    The function was attended by WSACCO’s members of the BoD, Directors and Heads of Departments, PSOTS staff, Nakaseke’s District Police Commander, District Commercial Officer and the Staff of Semuto People’s SACCO among others.
